Trendy Furniture: Modular Tetris Shelves

The game of Tetris has inspired many designers throughout the years. These Modular Tetris shelves are another practical influence of the hugely successful puzzle game. From Brave Space design, the Tetrad Flat Shelving is a set of ten colored pieces in the popular shapes of the game.




The shelves are made of wood, although their backings are entirely metallic. The blocks can be simply spread individually around your apartment, hung on a wall, or connected together to form a bookcase. You can arrange them in any way you like and use them for storing CD’s, books, magazines or any other objects that you have lying around your house. The finish is said to be stain resistant and easy to maintain. We found out that the set has a rather steamy price. You can get this ten blocks set at $ 1500 or an upgraded version for $2000, a sum that is not too high considering the creativity of the design and the endless possibilities in which you can use the Tetris blocks.

Visually Appealing Bamboo Tables

In open concept living space, it’s important to consider not just how individual furniture looks but whether they are still visually appealing from different angles. One designer who does consider this detail is Ken Tomita.

There are two outstanding table designs from his Bamboo Collection which look good from all view points. For the Sensu table, the designer chose perfectly proportioned and positioned glass and bamboo sections set on sumi stained ash legs. Any treasured art piece, ceramic or potted plant will be displayed in a most attractive manner.
Also noteworthy is his bamboo Gingko Light coffee table , masterfully crafted with tenon joints highlighted with black sumi ink. Just the right touch for this minimalist design.

Flat Pack : My Crew Table

The My Crew could serve as really fun coffee tables, a creatively arranged urban dining table, interesting outdoor serving tables or accent tables for lamps or books in a bedroom. Honestly, I think that these would be a resourceful, more contemporary accent for a child’s playroom or bedroom.

A resourceful furniture piece by Swedish designers Ingrid Svensson and Olle Wingard of the design company Minus Tio, My Crew is a table that is meant to be pieced together like panels for every usage imaginable. The stark contrast is color and noticeably diagonal design is clearly meant to the more thoughtful, creative urban designers who are looking to add creative complementary accents to a contrasting space without burdening you with the process of matching color.
